When we went to install aftermarket gauges in our Nissan, we ran into a couple of issues that had to be overcome to install our sending units. The first issue is the fact that Nissan uses 1/8 BSPT threads for its sending units rather than the more common 1/8 NPT. The second issue is that we wanted to retain our stock gauges as well. This presented us with a dilemma – where mount our sending unit.

What you see here is a clever solution to both issues for installing a water temperature gauge. The NISsport water temperature sending unit adapter is installed by cutting the upper radiator hose and inserting the adapter between the two pieces of hose and is secured with hose clamps. The adapter is CNC machined from 6061 aluminum and has barbs machined into the ends to prevent the radiator hoses from slipping off the adapter. The adapter is designed for a 35mm or 1 3/8" ID hose and will fit just about any car with this size hose.

The adapter is machined with a 1/8 NPT threaded hole for your aftermarket sending unit. It is also equipped with a ground screw. Sending units usually have a single wire (positive) running to them. The body of the sending unit is designed to ground to the engine block. Since the NISsport adapter is attached only to rubber hoses, a ground wire must be run to the engine or coachwork.

The water temperature sending unit adapter comes in the raw machined finish. Anodizing is available for orders of 10 or more adapters in the same color for a slight additional cost.
